¿ Kultur?die Kanalinseln liegen vor der französischen Küste, westlich der Halbinsel Cotentin, und gehörten 1066, zur Zeit der normannischen Invasion Englands, den Dukes of Normandy. Seither sind sie ein Schutzgebiet der britischen Krone, gehören jedoch, wie auch die Isle of Man, nicht zum United Kingdom - Vereinigten Königreich. Sie sind in die zwei bailiwicks - Verwaltungseinheiten Guernsey (von wo aus die Inseln Alderney und Sark verwaltet werden) und Jersey unterteilt. Sie haben ihre eigene Rechtsprechung, erheben ihre eigenen Steuern und gelten als tax haven - Steuerparadies. Man spricht dort Englisch und Französisch und vereinzelt auch einen normannisch-französischen Dialekt. -
